Question:
May
Allah the Almighty bless your knowledge — Ameen. Though the issue may appear
trivial to others, it constitutes a significant psychological burden for me. I
suffer from an acute and persistent fear of lizards (herpetophobia), which
severely affects my daily life. Upon encountering a lizard, I experience
immediate respiratory constriction, and the mere presence of one renders it
impossible for me to pass through that area. During warmer months, this
condition worsens as lizards frequently enter the house. If one appears in my
room at night, I remain sleepless until morning. Entry into the kitchen or
washroom becomes impossible if a lizard is seen there. The fear dominates my
consciousness throughout the day, manifesting as anticipatory anxiety and
persistent hypervigilance.
Answer:
As
part of a spiritual-psychosomatic management approach, the following regimen is
recommended: Take an unglazed clay bowl (traditionally used for serving firni),
fill it with potable water, and add two tablespoons of rose water. Recite the
following invocation three times over the mixture, and then gently blow upon
it:
"Yā Ḥayyiyu
Qabla Kulli Shay’in, Yā Ḥayyiyu Ba‘da
Kulli Shay’in"
یَاحَیِّیُ
قَبْلَ کُلِّ شَئیٍ یَا حَییُّ بَعْدَ کُلِّ شَئیٍ
Consume
this water on an empty stomach each morning. Refrain from eating or drinking
anything else for at least thirty minutes afterward. Additionally,
significantly reduce the intake of salt for a continuous duration of ten weeks,
as this dietary adjustment is believed to modulate neurochemical responses
associated with anxiety.
Khwaja Shamsuddin Azeemi
Nearly three decades ago, the esteemed spiritual scholar and blessed guide, Khwaja Shamsuddin Azeemi (R.A), inaugurated a mission of public service with the objective of liberating humanity from afflictions, psychological distress, and physical ailments. For ten years, he remained in contemplative retreat, silently advancing this sacred commitment to the service of creation (khidmat-e-khalq). As the hearts of the people began turning toward him, he employed the medium of mass communication. In 1969, this initiative was formally introduced to the public through newspapers and spiritual journals. According to conservative estimates, through written correspondence and face-to-face interaction—particularly via national publications and the Roohani Digest—Hazrat Azeemi has extended spiritual guidance and healing to over 1.4 million men and women, addressing intricate personal crises and intractable medical conditions. Today, it is not uncommon that wherever a few individuals gather, and a seemingly insoluble dilemma or incurable illness is mentioned, someone inevitably suggests: “Establish contact with Azeemi Sahib—the matter will be resolved.”
Through the grace of Allah the Almighty, the spiritual affinity with the Prophet (P.B.U.H), and the continued beneficence of the blessed guide, four volumes of Roohani Daak (Spiritual Correspondence) have now been compiled. The first volume is hereby presented to you for contemplation and benefit.
