Against Nature: Consanguineous Teratogenesis and Marital Alienation

 Question:

I was the only daughter of my parents, alongside two brothers. My father was forty years old at the time of my birth, and my mother was his third wife. I was born after four years of marriage following intense prayers. Whenever I fell slightly ill, my mother would panic and administer haphazard medications; I suffered recurrent bouts of malaria and typhoid. At thirteen, tuberculosis struck me.

At an early age, I was forced into an arranged marriage. My husband's lineage carried deep congenital and familial defects, and as a consequence, all of our offspring were born afflicted with chronic ailments:

  • My eldest son’s visual acuity is negligible—virtually bordering on complete blindness—and he merely manages to walk about.
  • The second son suffers from a congenital cardiac defect.
  • The third had severe intestinal parasitic infestations during childhood; relentless courses of anthelmintic drugs permanently wrecked his health, and he has never recovered robust vitality.
  • The fourth, a daughter, behaves like a patient of hysteria, collapsing into unconsciousness at the slightest distress; she suffered from nocturnal enuresis (bed-wetting) until the age of nine.
  • The youngest daughter suffers chronic pharyngeal infections and severe toothaches; physicians state that all her primary molars are decayed and must be surgically extracted, though she is barely four and a half years old.

To cleanse my sins, I spend my days reading newspapers and extensive religious compendiums such as Bahishti Zewar. My spiritual guide is an accomplished, venerable elder.

Eminent and aristocratic families had once vied for my hand, for nature had endowed me with generous beauty. Yet my guardians bound me at fourteen to a man whose temperament was characterized by cunning, deceit, and base superficiality. For the sake of my parents' honor, I endured the union, hoping fortune would eventually smile upon me. Now, having crossed the threshold into advancing age, my sons have grown bearded. My husband remarks coldly: "I have ruined your life," and is actively maneuvering to contract a second marriage. Tell me, whither shall I turn?

Answer:

Have a pillowcase tailored—or stitch it yourself—from deep rose-pink velvet fabric. Recline upon this pillow every night during sleep.

The responsibility for this domestic ruin cannot be assigned exclusively to your husband; you are an equal partner in the dynamic. You accepted him out of passive coercion, and he was perpetually deprived of the genuine affection to which a spouse is entitled.

The illnesses afflicting your children stem from an inherited biological vulnerability transmitted through familial genetics. Furthermore, a shared mode of thought prevails within the lineage that is fundamentally discordant with nature: unyielding obstinacy, hubris, arrogance, and looking down upon others seem to have become a familial routine.

First, cultivate a profound transformation within your own interior perspective and disposition; thereafter, undertake the prescribed therapy. The doors of Allah Almighty's mercy remain eternally open unto His creation
