I am an educated young woman holding B.Ed. and M.A. degrees. My family circumstances are such that we cannot make ends meet without employment. I have made considerable efforts to secure a job and attended numerous interviews, yet I have remained unsuccessful so far. I am exceedingly distressed about finding employment. Reading your column brought a ray of hope; I trust you will provide a swift solution to my predicament. Furthermore, someone told me that my employment prospects have been supernaturally bound (bandh di gayi hai), as I have one or two adversaries. Please clarify whether someone has placed a spiritual obstruction on my livelihood or if this is a natural obstacle. I pray earnestly after offering my daily prayers.

I read in the newspaper that 3.6 million people are currently unemployed in Britain. In a nation as advanced as Britain, there are no jobs or livelihoods for them. Does that imply that the livelihoods of all 3.6 million individuals have been supernaturally bound? O sister! What has become of our rational thinking? Why do we not reflect that if livelihoods and employment could simply be bound by occult means, who on earth would be left alive?
All endeavors are accomplished through a person’s own effort, resolve, and diligent hard work. If a formal job is unavailable, there are countless other avenues to earn a livelihood. Utilize those alternative means, and to fortify your willpower, continuously recite Yā Ḥayyu Yā Qayyūm (یا حی یا قیوم). Having earned a Master’s degree does not mean you must strictly work seated at a desk and chair simply because you are highly educated. Learn a practical craft or vocational trade and pursue your labor with perseverance. Allah Almighty will grant abundant blessings.
