The Fashionable Neighborhood-Socioeconomic Transition and Moral Fracture

 Question:

We are twelve siblings. My sisters possess extraordinarily quarrelsome dispositions, fighting incessantly to the extreme point of physically striking our mother. Our mother behaves in the same manner, harboring relentless suspicion against our father, while he retaliates by hurling vile verbal abuse at her and at all of us siblings. We face no lack of material wealth, yet our character is so degraded that if an item arrives from the neighborhood, a wild scramble ensues. Respect between elders and youngsters does not exist; everyone acts upon their selfish whims.

Previously, we resided among uneducated, impoverished communities. Today, we live in a fashionable and affluent neighborhood; however, our ingrained habits have undergone no transformation. The degradation is such that we deliberately humiliate one another even before visiting guests. I earnestly yearn for our parents to live in tranquil harmony, for mutual affection to cultivate among the siblings, and for the toxic venom of malice and jealousy to be purged from our hearts.

Answer:

Awaken very early in the morning before sunrise. Fill a tin-plated bronze bowl with clean water and stand facing toward the Qibla. Recite once:

Bismillāh ir-Raḥmān ir-Raḥīm, Yā Wadūdu

بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ یَا وَدُوْدُ

and blow upon the water. Administer this water to all members of the household through whichever method is feasible (you may also pour it into the drinking water containers kept in the refrigerator). At night before retiring to sleep, burn pure frankincense (Lobān) to fumigate the house. Discontinue this spiritual practice once domestic conditions have normalized.
