Do Good, Reap Good-The Psychosocial Ordeal of Infertility

 Question:

Three years have elapsed since my marriage. Allah Almighty has blessed me with every worldly comfort, yet I remain deprived of the blessing of offspring. My husband is exceptionally noble, compassionate, and loves me with all his heart. Despite his affection, strength, and encouragement, the barbed and sarcastic taunts of society frequently drive me into bitter despair. I weep secretly under diverse pretexts so that my husband remains unaware of the escalating coldness of his family toward me. My in-laws continually scheme to poison his mind against me. An unshakeable dread haunts my heart that, due to this solitary void, I may end up losing both a devoted husband and a peaceful home.

Throughout this period, I have undergone extensive medical interventions: pelvic X-rays, ultrasonography, and a dilation and curettage (D&C) procedure; every diagnostic report returns entirely normal. My husband’s fertility panels are likewise flawless. Contemporary peers who married alongside us already mother two children each, a circumstance society uses to make my life unendurable. Stricken with profound sorrow, I turn to you for guidance. Treat me as your daughter and publish this plea; do not consign it to the wastebasket.

Please address a stern admonition to those individuals who turn the lives of daughters into an ordeal: do not view a childless woman with disdain! Cease poisoning her existence with ceaseless mockery. Do not scheme to evict her from the domestic hearth to introduce another bride. Had this biological shortcoming resided within their own son, would they cast him out into the streets? Would they inflict the same cruelty upon their flesh that they mete out to another’s daughter? A daughter-in-law is another parent's child; her destiny was inscribed by God, not by herself or her parents. Why, then, hold the woman blameworthy?

Answer:

Every night following the completion of the Isha prayer, recite 300 times:

Bismillāh ir-Raḥmān ir-Raḥīm. Iqra’ bismi Rabbikal-ladhī khalaq, khalaqal-insāna min ‘alaq. Ḥā-Mīm (or Alif-Lām-Rā), Tilka āyātul-Kitābil-Mubīn

Close your eyes and visualize steadily for ten to fifteen minutes that Allah Almighty is beholding you. Thereafter, plead your case before Him with utter humility, reverence, and a tender heart. Persist in this daily supplication until your cherished aspiration is granted.

According to my assessment, an underlying functional or hormonal gynecological imbalance is present; it is essential to pursue clinical medical treatment for this condition alongside spiritual practice. My sincere prayer is that Allah Almighty blesses you with healthy male offspring. Amen. Offering charitable alms and extending relief to the destitute are profoundly beloved unto Allah Almighty. Strive to alleviate the suffering of His creatures to the best of your capacity. Do good, and good will befall you.
