Sleep Paralysis, Somatic Spasms, and Johannine-Christic Contemplation-Jesus Christ

 Question:

I am a Christian woman from an educated, middle-class family, working as a teacher in a private school. For the past five to six years, I have languished beneath complex spiritual and psychosomatic afflictions.

In 1980, upon completing my Matriculation examinations, I was sitting reading a journal around 10:00 or 11:00 PM while the household slept. Abruptly, a sensation struck me that a hound had crawled beneath my bed, accompanied by violent full-body tremors; though I initially dismissed the thought, a dog had in fact entered beneath the bed, and I drove it outside.

Soon after, a recurring nocturnal terror began: an unseen force dragged me out through the door while I screamed for my mother, my voice choking silently in my throat; breaking free with desperate force, I would collapse onto my mother's bed and recount the nightmare. Previously, my mouth and hands had twisted into involuntary paralytic spasms; praying to God in the name of Jesus Christ, my body gradually normalized. Yet ever since, sickness and distress continually besiege me. Impart a holy Divine Name so that through its grace, my afflictions may be dispelled.

Answer:

At night before sleep, ensure physical cleanliness, recite three times:

Yā Īl, Yā Īlyā

یَا اِیْلُ، یَا اِیْلِیَا

close your eyes, and enter into contemplative meditation (Murāqabah), focusing your inward visualization upon the venerable form of Hadrat Isa (Jesus Christ, peace be upon him).

When this meditative contemplation stabilizes and the sacred image rests vividly before your inner sight, visualize radiant beams of celestial light emanating from his person and absorbing deeply into your cerebral faculties.
