Question:
Venerable Khwaja Shamsuddin Azeemi, through your
writings and counsel, multitudes find deliverance from tribulations. Impart an
efficacious practice so that the heart finds joyful focus in daily prayer, and
both mind and heart experience undivided concentration (yak-sū’ī).
Answer:
Upon declaring the liturgical intention (niyyah)
for prayer, anchor your physical gaze steadily upon the tips of your big toes;
this physical discipline establishes mental stillness. The physiological
rationale is that the bio-electrical currents coursing through the human frame
are continuously grounding (earth) into the floor through the feet;
directing your attention toward the toes prevents energy leakage, absorbing the
bio-current inward and centering fragmented thoughts upon a singular point.
Alongside this somatic discipline, commit to memory
the literal translation of every Quranic Surah recited during your prayers.
During oral recitation, keep your conscious awareness firmly attuned to the
meaning of the verses. In this manner, cognitive distraction will dissolve, and
thoughts will harmonize into profound spiritual concentration.
Question:
We are five siblings raised by our mother following
our father's demise, subsisting upon ancestral assets. My elder brother turned
to commerce while the younger entered employment; after two or three prosperous
years, commercial trade collapsed so entirely that paying store rent became
impossible. Following his marriage, the younger brother severed ties and lived
apart. As debts mounted, properties were liquidated until we lost our personal
home, which was sealed by authorities for unpaid rent. Unable to bear these
tragedies, our mother passed away. We languish in distress: why did this
catastrophe fall upon us?
Answer:
Take raw grains of white rice. Using a pen, mark a
solitary ink dot upon each grain; when the count reaches one thousand grains,
cast them outdoors before wild birds. Maintain complete silence while marking
the grains; it is most convenient to execute this practice at night prior to
sleep. Continue this discipline for a minimum of forty consecutive days;
extending it further yields greater benefit.
This practice will awaken self-sacrifice among your
siblings and eradicate the unconscious cynicism and mistrust that have taken
root toward Allah Almighty. As Muslims, our fundamental conviction is that
chronic, persistent ingratitude degenerates into open denial of divine favor (kufrān-e-ni‘mat).
Remember: sooner or later, the laws of nature never pardon those who treat
divine bounties with ungrateful disdain—their resources are inexorably
constricted.
