In our present era, physical science is striving to
determine whether extraterrestrial civilizations inhabit planets beyond our
own. What does spirituality declare on this matter? I have read of yogis,
ascetics, and mystics who project their soul beyond the physical shell to
traverse the cosmos. Through this spiritual journeying, can beings inhabiting
other worlds be witnessed?
Answer:
The boundless celestial expanse of stars and
planetary systems is neither barren, desolate, nor vacant; rather, the majority
of planets are inhabited. The Creator of the Universe brought this vast cosmos
into existence precisely so that created entities might recognize that they
have a Creator, and strive toward knowing Him.
Among the planets visible to our instruments and
those veiled from mortal gaze, most are populated by humans and jinn. It is
these two orders of creation that fulfill the fundamental roles in cosmic
administration. However, the degrees, proportions, dynamic rhythms, and
physical forms of beings vary from planet to planet. On certain planets, human
beings appear as outlines fashioned purely of light; on others, humans are
completely transparent—meaning that if an inhabitant of such a world were to
stand before us, our gaze would see straight through them. On other planets,
human complexions gleam like burnished gold, among numerous other variations.
Fascinatingly, the sub-orders of nature—such as
fauna and flora—on any given planet are created in precise structural alignment
with its primary inhabitants. For instance, on the planet where humans are
transparent, the trunks of the trees resemble crystalline glass pillars, yet
within these glass columns, the living veins, structural joints, and vascular
networks of the wood remain fully present; the leaves, too, exist as
transparent, crystal foliage.
Furthermore, the measurement and gradation of time
differ on every planet. We may illustrate this by noting that the process of
birth continues among the jinn. In their realm, gestation also requires nine
months; yet measured by our terrestrial calendar, that duration corresponds to
nine solar years—our single month being equivalent to an entire year in their
dimension. Their life expectancies correspond to this temporal scale.
Accordingly, classical accounts by revered spiritual elders document encounters
with long-lived jinn who had personally beheld the Holy Prophet (peace and
blessings be upon him). If an ordinary human lives for a century, the
proportional lifespan of a jinn on this scale equals twelve hundred years.
Humans and jinn inhabiting different planets
maintain their respective social, moral, and spiritual traditions, living their
existential course just as the inhabitants of Earth live theirs. Nevertheless,
owing to variations in gravitational forces, the velocity of time and modes of
physical creation on each planet remain distinct.
To become acquainted with planetary civilizations
and observe their modes of existence, our mind must awaken that dormant faculty
that liberates consciousness from the constraints of space and time. By
altering the operative velocity of our mind, we can enter the spatial field or
atmosphere of any celestial sphere. Striving to unbind the intellect from
space-time is essentially utilizing the transcendent capacities of the soul,
for the soul is inherently sovereign over temporal and spatial confinement. In
the Holy Quran, Allah Almighty declares:
"O company of jinn and men! If you are able to
pass beyond the zones of the heavens and the earth, then pass! You shall not
pass except through supreme authority (Sultan)."
In mystical epistemology and Sufism, Sultan
signifies the pure essence of the Soul. The most accessible method to
emancipate the mind from space-time is through dedicated meditative discipline,
thereby releasing human awareness from the gravitational pull of matter. Nature
has endowed every individual with this latent capacity; it is the exclusive
preserve of no privileged group or caste.
