Spiritual Healing
Question:
A year following my marriage, a daughter was born who
languished in continuous illness for fifteen to sixteen days before passing
away; following her demise, dark, cyanotic ecchymotic patches covered her body.
Over the subsequent two years, two more infant daughters were born in
succession. Immediately following birth, each exhibited persistent,
inconsolable weeping, kept their eyes clamped shut, and around the fourth or
fifth day ceased nursing altogether. Whenever milk or water was administered
via spoon, the fluid regurgitated out through their nostrils.
We sought prayers, talismans, and medical care, yet
physicians could not identify the underlying pathology; like their sibling,
both infants died within fifteen to sixteen days, displaying the identical dark
bluish-black patches across their spine and abdomen. Subsequently, Allah
blessed me with three sons; at their birth, a spiritual elder provided
protective amulets, blessed ajwain, and sanctified remedies, and by God's grace
all three boys survived and thrive.
Following the sons, another daughter was born, and the
exact fatal sequence recurred: incessant crying, cessation of feeding by the
fifth day, pharyngeal obstruction, and death within fifteen to sixteen days,
her body marked by identical dark cyanotic lesions. I am currently expecting
another child. My mind is ensnared in agonizing dread. I arrive at your
doorstep holding immense hope.
Answer:
Inscribe the traditional protective talisman against infantile affliction (Umm aṣ-Ṣibyān),
sew it within sky-blue fabric, and wear it around your
neck throughout the duration of your pregnancy. Immediately upon delivery,
remove the talisman from your neck and suspend it securely around the neck of
the newborn infant.
Throughout the pregnancy until delivery occurs,
distribute two rupees in charity to the destitute every Thursday.
